Which one of us does not like the smell of fresh bread as it is baking? Whether you use one of those new bread making machines or do it the old-fashioned way, when that bread is about ready to come out of the oven, people begin gathering in the kitchen eagerly anticipating receiving their portion, slathered with butter. So, it should be in the church. Jesus said, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger….“ (John 6:35)
When God shows up in a church, I believe that the people from everywhere will gather, eagerly anticipating His Provision for their lives. There are men, women, young people today that are searching our churches to find that “fresh bread”, but so often all they find are the crumbs of yesterday’s bread.
It is my prayer, that we will strive to continue to rely on the truths of God’s Word and the heritage that we hold so dear to spur us on to make our church a place where the aroma of “fresh bread” is spilling out into the streets. We do this by daily renewing our commitment, our vision and our lives on the altar so that Jesus works through you and me, unhindered to reach the lost and hurting world around us.
